United 93

The sequence of events that shook the world!

There were no big stars in this movie and it made it all the more realistsic. Based upon the recordings in the pilot cabin and the calls made by the passengers aboard the doomed United Flight 93, one of the planes hijacked on September 11, 2001, the director, Paul Greengrass tries to create what could have possibly happened inside the plane on that fateful day.

To me it did not appear as a movie but something happening real time. It was so gripping. The unpreparedness of the personells, the confusions, the harrowing experiences and the shock at the control rooms as they see one hijacked plane crash after the other and of course the humanism and the heroic efforts and the sacrifice of the passengers on board when they folied the plan of the terrorists.

The theatre was packed and we were all pin-drop silent. Unfortunately, my health gave way and I couldn’t watch the last bit as I had been throwing up due to severe headches the past week.

Even now, I can’t help wondering somebody actually did that to America and Osama is still believed to be alive.

Recently a lot of these docu-dramas are surfacing on the eve of the 5th anniversary of 9/11. Just finished watching a two part movie called Path to 9/11 done by ABC. While they are all very gripping to watch,(afterall we humans have morbid curiosity which sets us apart from our four-legged friends) I wonder if its ethical to even partly fictionalize such a monumentous tragedy!

The movie is gripping...but i cringe at the fact that americans market their sorrow to this extent, and dont give a shit about the hundreds that die everyday. (Not tryin to be political.)

Watched this movie a few months ago...a really gripping tale, awesomely told. I was blown away as the events unfolded. A movie truly worth-watching.

@Nautilus and Goan Pao:yeah!! agree, there seems to be too many of it these days but I liked about the movie was also the fact that it was apolitical.

Media here is wild on its own. Normal americans are not involved in all this. I don't get time to watch much of this crap either. Talibans (or Osama) surely did give a jolt to the complacency !!
Remember the best of minds are working here. And they are not petting blondes on their lap like Amitabh in KANK. If you ever looked at Taliban's views !! They had some solid points too. Why Baskin Robins icecream shops need to have teen blondes with two good ones ( real or fake it does not matter) ?? The cone is served exactly in a manner, you will feel like jumping in to that cleavage...

Ha..Ha..

Only that the whole Flight 93 thing seems fictious -

1. It happened in 2001 and it was said that there were calls made from 'cellphones'
2. The chances that a cell phone works at that hieght in 2001 is 0.04%.
3. In 2004, the American Airlines advertised that cell phones now work in their flight at that hieght. Why this ad when it was working 3 years before?
4. and many more...

See the 'loose change' on google video. Its more gripping than this movie. I somehow dont believe that this incident ever occurred...

but the unfortunate part is that it also makes us cold and unemotional in a way, because we seem to be 'entertained' by even tragedies..
