A day before the latest volume was released, my friend asked me to accompany him and grab the book the next day. I am a Non-Harrypotterian and was like eeks! Old man, what are you going to do reading that spectacled lad? Don’t you have better things to do like taking me out for a movie, buying me a dress but his enthusiasm appalled me. Next day we grabbed the book and he was busy making all kinds of calls long distance, short distance, no distance (I mean calling me to stand by his side as he paid) announcing his purchase as though he was announcing to the world that he is dating Yana minus Gupta. (He is waiting for Yana to ditch Aftaab and vice-versa)
I went back thinking what will happen to the world and a good samaritan like me should do something about it. But the next day, I see my colleagues talking about it, friends and even foes know about it. They are like please don’t tell me which character dies. So sad and all that stuff. Finally I realised, I am the odd man out for being Harry Potter illiterate.
Something must be there in this lad. Am I realising 6 volumes too late? So, I am doing some disaster recovery by watching the movies and reading up the rest.
After a few weeks, let’s talk Hairy oops Harry Ponting.

Dumbledore dies. Snape kills him. Snape is the HBP. Use the old funda.. if u dont have it in u, FAKE IT
*Same pinch!*
I havent read Harry Porter either.
I didn't watch the 1st movie till 6 months after release. Saw the second one. And never saw any after that!!
And even though many seem to make a big deal out of it all... I reckon I'm not missing much. *and that way I stay Un-Harry-Happy!* :D
Hi,Arunima,no,it's not you,it's just some smart marketing and hype doing a wonderful job.Anybody who's somebody who likes to be 'in' with the rest, must have a copy of the Hari Puttar book.:)BTW,I've only seen the 'Prisoner Of Azekaban',and,u should have heard the kids screaming for joy at each act.
Noooo...don't fall for it!!!
I know a lot of people who FAKE it, or want to grab the copy just to SHOW OFF.
@ Handa: I expected this from you. May you not rot in hell with people's curses!
@MMN: you too! Even my friends was planning the same thing.
Nupur, AmitL: Yeah! that's all I wanted to hear. I am not going to read all of them :-)
coincidence.. i have a related post today :)
Not to get 'Harried' by the Potter mania! :-))
Hey.. Neither me. That spec guy doesnt interest me at all... And I guess like Maverick said, you do what interests you & not what others are interested in mannnn!!! Nice one..
Reminded me of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, when Amar Upadhaya died! People were crying buckets!
he he .. well even i havent read any on the books :) .. but it never bothered me so much .. i just watch the movie when it comes :)
Hari Puthar.. ;)
I think potter mania has its origins in the depths of the human mind where you want to be identified with a something which makes you a part of a larger group or something that feels 'cool'. It is more about being a 'potty' fan than whether they like the book or not.
For example, I as a kid I still remember having my first cola, a Thumsup. My mind then was not influenced by any ads then. I hated the taste of it. It was bitter and tasted horrible. I drank about 1/3rd and gave up. But now the same cola is quite pleasant after all the ads have changed what my mind thinks the taste of a cola should 'taste like'...
Marketing baby!
Well, If u got whole shit of time to waste like reading Potter then u can waste it like tat....(there r better ways of wasting time though) ...but if u r feeling like being Pottier its better to watch the moview
The Harry Potter novels are great, like say, Lord Of The Rings. Actually, they are nothing special, just ordinary books. Kids might find them more interesting. I've read all the books of HP so far, only for my curiousity, because everyone else is reading them. They are interesting books.. something to just read for the fun of it, I think.
Ya... I empathise with you.. A couple of days back, I heard a shriek and cry from my neighbour's house. There were sobs and wails. I thought some bloke croaked.... Next morning I saw the nubile 19 year old Mount carmel student with puffed eyes.
She was the one who was crying. Isnt it pathetic that grown and mature people cry over silly things as some dumbo dying in a novel ???
wierd the world is. I say..
vasu
Oh!! i didn't know tehre were so.. many people who don't read Harry Potter!!
i'm a HUGE fan!! i love all the books and it was pretty sad the way the last book ended and I'm waiting for the last book!!
U really write well though :)
But, claytonia vices, get a grip!!

Sheeeesh!!!!!

WHOO HOOO! Glad to know that there are more like me around. Cant believe adults have such a hankering for Hari Puttar-with so much good literature around, i dont see the need to go near a Hari Puttar. STay away girl! More power to you!
I havent read it as yet ... LOL
PHOEBE d anonymous... HEHE luv ur comment about claytona thingy. LUV 2 know also im not the only 1 shocked that there actually are people who does not care about POtter! I read the series through my cousin. And I loved them! I became hooked by bk 4. It's the best in the series. Bk 6 unfortunately is the worst fanfic ever written. I ship harry and hermione. I can't believe also that an Indian girl can be interesting... I always thought people from India are boring. I am an Asian too by the way... Filipina.
