amir khan-shah rukh khan

Wonder why the title? Will come there. i could have tagged along with S to the U.S. i didn't because i loved my job and it meant something to me. i was not working for the sake of money alone. i wanted to make a career out of it. i have put a little over 8 yrs to my profession. S got convinced by his management to get foreign exposure, and i didn't want to stop him, though we could still have a good life here.

Well, the appraisal feedback happened today, and for the first time in my life, i was not happy with what i got. i know your expectations and management's seldom match, but it wasn't even that. Worse is the cock and bull story later about you are technically reporting but not technically reporting to me. If you feel screwed, it is not me reassurance after the series of  you are doing greats.

Thinking that i have sacrificed my personal life for this makes me feel worthless.
Came back, ate potato chips and cried in that order. Tomorrow, i may see some sense. i know.

So, i want to feel important today and have this urge to show off my blog awards given by fellow bloggers. i had saved the images of some awards, but for some, i have forgotten who gave it. So, like Aamir Khan, i want to shun awards, but the Shah Rukh Khan (got the title?) in me is awakened and i want to display them. i know i had got some silly blogger award or so :-) . Please own up. Else, i am going to display whatever i like. i will derive some cheap pleasure out of it.

@Manus: Remember, one scene where Salman and his palton cat walked in front of the farm house when the bullets started firing. :-)

You should have gone to US ...staying in India is not worth it...in US work is appreciated more than here..see if u still have a chance u can make it

something i keep telling my wife over and over again - be very selfish. prioritise yourself over everything else. your health, your life, your sanity. over your work, over career, over everything. because at the end of the day you only have yourself.

i'd say fuck this job and go join S. nothing is worth being separated from the one you love.

If you like your job , dont bother about the company. Do this job in some other company.
This company surely doesn't deserve you.
You can do the karina style catherasis (jab we met style)......burn your boss's pic and wash the ash away in ahem........

hey Kirti, I don't actually feel that way about the boss or the company. it is difficult to explain here.

one of those days huh.. chocolate donuts work for me better than potato chips :) hope you are feeling better about yourself again by now.

Arunima said...

@P: chocolate donuts for me next time, then. :-)

In fact, I feel like having it today.

Arunima, remember it all adds up to the grass is greener on the other side..if u can get a job in the US then join ur hubby or just wait until he joins u...

Not that it would help, but it really is the same story everywhere. Relax! Not worth it! Make a trip to the US. Husband and travel before work is my mantra. Because husband and travel are always more fun than work, no matter how much you love work.

No?

Hi, Arunima..that's sad, but, not the end of the world..I'm sure, knowing you, it's inspired you to think of options and ways to forge ahead..:)You know the silliest appraisal I had? They said 'It's like the toss of a coin- Heads, you get rating 4, tails you get rating 3'.(Rating 5 used to be highest)..rating 3 meant you're average..even though my past ratings had been 4/5, I still saw the signals and quit before the next review..hehehe..and, no regrets whatsoever.

You gotta last it out.

so this manager tells you that he/she does not know what u did so will not give you a good appraisal? Hard to believe that! Is there no 360 degree feedback (although i know even that might not help if the place is rotting with stale managers anyways!)
