WOW!!! Beautiful write up... I just hope that none of them suffered from the Cassandra Effect at least when the rosy days of love and madness were on...Just imagine, trying to keep yourself normal and trying to soak in everything - yet realizing the futility of the entire episode...At least we can hope that it was awesome when it lasted and both of them have some awesome memories, which they are gonna treasure for years to come. Still cant stop feeling deeply for them... If only the world was a simpler place...where love and only love was paramount...

That's so sad,Arunima..but then,on the other hand,that's what most part of our country is,even now..it's never an Indian marrying an Indian..it's a Gujju with a Gujju,an Iyengar with an Iyengar,a Maharashtrian with a Maharashtrian..the few 'odd'marriages between castes get frowned upon and only if luck smiles,the families deign to overlook the 'heinous'crime!Sigh!Hope this couple gets united,finally!Even if she's said she'll marry whoever her Mom chooses.I rather blame unrelenting parents in such cases..do you?

A caste-free world, where man can marry a woman regardless of which caste she belongs to, which gotra she belongs to, which race she belongs to... is still a Utopian dream in India.

But nevertheless we keep dreaming so that one day that dream becomes a reality. Slowly the sands of time sets things into motion and circumstances are a changing. Times are a changing. Glory days are soon a coming.

Its difficult to understand in face of a tragedy.. but what is gone is gone.. why ruin the future?

And why do they kill each other..? why must she resign herself to a chance.. to a good-looking piece of randomness who may or may not be compatible with her... and then she'll waste away...

it is sad.just heard of another couple like that - both classmates who after ten years of fighting with their parents gave in. the girl just got married last month. different religion tho.

after ten years one would have thought the parents would be ok with it.
