LOL!

As much as I found this funny, you are scaring me at the same time too. MILs are nice and loving creatures too right? RIGHT?! Please say they are nice and loving to make this single girl happy. ;)

Delurking here actually. :)

Btw, is it okay if I link up your 'ex.com' post to something similar that I am going to write?

wow what a statement
but i also read somewhere that u jsut can not make this class of people happy how hard may u try. as my granny used to say If MIL WANTS TO CRITICISE YOU IT WILL LIKE WHY DID YOU SNEEZE? AND IF YOU DID'NT SNEEZE THEN WHY DIDN'T YOU SNEEZE.
whatever you do you just cannt make her happy
i dread the day when i become a MIL. will i also become like the present sets of MILs and will my DIL also talk like this for me? GOD PLEASE HELP ME

Hmm... the staunchest of 'liberated women' I have known have bitten the dust in front of those MILs!!! Even parents some times!!

U know Arunima, you just made me sit up and re-read this again and again and I had a good laugh. Staying with MIL from a yr now, this is the only RULE am following.....No matter what she thinks, she wants, she is always RIGHT.

Remember one day you will become MIL if you are fortunate enough to have a son!

now that you have cracked it, can i send mine across?

@AnjuGandhi. I think we just have to find a middle path and stay at peace.

Arunima said...

@claytonia: you are so right.
@shruti: nice to hear that we are all together in this. :-)

@cynic: oh, I am all eyes and ears. Please please please!

@Anonymous: well, if I become a MIL someday, I'll quote the same lines. :-)

Now, coming back to the fortunate enough thingy, I don't agree. Any child is a blessing to a parent be it a boy or a girl. I will still be a MIL when I have a girl too. And I also don't think that you are not fortunate if you are childless. Many couple are opting to be childless these days. I could be just one of them you never know.

Totally.. my life philosophy as well. And also pretend to be dumb... in certain cases... LOL
MIL knows best.. ( no offense to my MIL but it helps me a lot in some cases)

you didn't mean MILFs right? Okay bad joke :)

Anyone who has a successful relationships with MILs knows the secret - Either you unequivocally agree to what they say or gently unobtrusively persuade them to see otherwise (2nd option isnt the easiest)..Actually this could apply to all women and not just MILs..
